old age

The 'I' rules nothing any more

The 'I' wants to rule everything

The ones who loved souls

The ones who loved hearts

Are the ones who are blessed.

Abdul Kalam

Great men see the sun amidst chaos

They ignore the ripples of confusion

They lead with a rare focus on light

Others can't see the shine that well

They critique or wait in silence

To see  the result of sweat and toil

Either to mock or  to fall at feet

Lands need such Godmen of power

Leaders like Kalam write destinies

They catch the minds of people

Write their visions on them vivid

Writings slowly take charge

They disseminate, spread, catch fire

Reviving a people tired of losing.

A society  waiting  for morality

Waiting for leaders, real leaders

Coming out of self-preservation

Attempting to preserve society.

Rameswaram symbolizes holiness

The island of penance, peace

Strengthening a new ethics

Power and objectivity in life

Our land that created hierarchy of skin

That practiced suppression

Has at last brought out other models

Has recognized the ordinary man

Ekalaivan belongs to the past.

Today we are ready to smile

At every one in the eye.

We march ahead with self esteem.

Kalam is our glorious past.

No need to be ashamed any more

Super powers are ethical at bottom.
