The great palms - Painting- oil on canvas- Mr. S. Chellaiah
The palms were rejected by houses
They took shelter in open grounds
They were not tamed as the neem
They were charming like hibiscus
They were tough, harsh, cold
Unforgiving, frustrated ugly
The dignified height brought
Pride to their eyes and tone
The rejection from society
Gave them milk of kindness
Frustration brewed into warmth
Loneliness mellowed into love
Broke out into services
Continued their standing
Looking down on the shallow
Life around them with smiles
The breeze petted and pampered
The sun shared jokes lightly
The Gods came down to visit
They lived and live midst the best.
